Physiotherapy Department

Physiotherapy is a health care profession that emphasis’s the use of physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore health. It plays an integral part in patient’s recovery process. The core skills of a Physiotherapist are manual therapy, exercise therapy and electrotherapy that are used to relieve pain and restore function. 

Introduction to the services:

The Department of Physiotherapy at Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Trust hospital Multan provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to assist adults and children in overcoming physical, neurological, cognitive impairments, disabilities and handicaps. All Physiotherapists work with an interdisciplinary team to restore physical functions, relieve pain and minimize the psychological, social and vocational efforts of disability.

General goals of the Department are:

  • To achieve near normal functional independence/normal developmental milestones.
  • To promote functional independence
  • To improve mobility/transfers
  • To ensure proper positioning/seating
  • To ensure proper follow-up of therapy in both department and home situations

Physiotherapy can assists in recovery from almost any chronic ailment, hospitalization or surgery. The following list includes some of the conditions that can be improved from Physiotherapy services provided at BAMTH.

Orthopaedic Conditions:

These include arthritis, joint replacement, fractures and muscle pain: Physiotherapy is highly effective in reducing pain, restoring strength regaining function and range of motion, preventing injury and achieving the highest level of functional independence.

Neurological Conditions:

These include stroke, Parkinsonism, paraplegia and nerve injuries: Physiotherapy helps towards achieving the maximum level of physical, psychological, social and vocational functioning by improving balance and coordination, restoring muscle strength and gait, regaining function and range of motion and preventing spasticity.
